The event, which is billed to hold between December 15, 2016 and 17, 2016 in Akwa Ibom State, is geared at diverting investment and tourism traffic to Akwa Ibom State through the provision of artistic, cultural and tourism platforms.
Ini Edo, who is also the Project Managerfor the Festival, explained that IbomFestwould also showcase the historic sites, sculptural landscapes, topography, cuisines, arts and crafts that abound in the state.The actress further explained that the showcase would also attract foreign direct investment to the state as well ascreate an opportunity for stakeholders in the tourism industry to showcase their potentials.Speaking at the formal signing of the project,Darlington Abuda, the lead consultant of PGC, andApeh Harrison Iwodi, the IbomFest Project Consultant stated that the IbomFest Heritage festival which has as its theme “Our Culture Beyond Borders” would simultaneously showcase the tourism potentials of the state to visitors while giving residents of the state a renewed appreciation of their state. Abuda went on to express his agency’s determination to support the Udom Emmanuelled administration strategy to provide a robust programme that would fast-track the development of thetourism industry in the state for wealth creation, employment generation, self-actualization and sustainability.On his part, Apeh Harrison Iwodi, the Project Consultant, expressed his optimism that the ingenuity embedded in the concept of the festival would serve as a beacon to other states in their desire to diversify the sources of internally generated evenue.
